Manchester
I live in Manchester, a big city in the north of England.
Manchester has a reputation for rain and ugly buildings like the original Arndale Centre. Well, we only get two thirds of the annual rainfall of New York City, and for every ugly building, there's a stunningly beautiful one like the town hall (pictured).
Despite not having a reputation as a tourist hotspot, Manchester has lots to see and do. I wrote the majority of the definitive tourist guide to Manchester at Wikitravel.
Manchester has also been home to some of the greatest musicians history has ever known, among them The Smiths/Morrissey, Joy Division/New Order, Inspiral Carpets, James, Badly Drawn Boy and Doves.
