Laptop measures climate change

A quote from today's MEN story The forecast is: Salford-by-the-Sea!:
Mr Rodgers, a site manager from Oldham, has been collecting data about the weather every day since he was 10, though he now uses a laptop computer instead of the thermometer which started off his hobby.
Presumably he has a Turion like me, which explains why things are a lot hotter than they were back in his childhood.
